About ReproducibiliTea Leuven
ReproducibiliTea Leuven is a dynamic, early-career researcher-led initiative dedicated to promoting open science practices across all research fields. Our main activity is hosting regular journal club sessions multiple times each semester. Each session dives into different challenges and potential solutions related to transparency, reproducibility, and replicability. We engage with a wide range of resources, from research articles to podcasts and online tools. Our discussions are broad and inclusive, offering a platform for researchers at all career stages to connect with peers committed to making research more transparent and reliable.
Our current focus is on exploring topics that are relevant to different research fields – such as producing reproducible analysis code, implications of using artificial intelligence in scientific practices, and publishing in open access journals (just to name a few!).
We are led by our community members: Become a member and suggest topic ideas, a guest speaker that inspires you, or even lead a session yourself!
Meet the Team
Our team currently includes four passionate early-career researchers at KU Leuven: Dr Joanne Beames (Senior Postdoctoral Fellow in the Research Group Psychiatry), Benjamin Kunc (PhD student in Research Group Psychiatry), Dr Eline Van Geert (Junior Postdoctoral Fellow in the Laboratory for Experimental Psychology), and Jan-Peter Sandler (PhD student in the Institute for the Future, Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Transplantation, Rega Institute for Medical Research). We are also supported by a faculty representative from the Research Group Psychiatry, Prof Olivia Kirtley. We are always eager to grow our team—if you are interested in joining, get in touch!
Our Role in the Belgian Reproducibility Network
We are working within the Leuven node of the network or ReproducibiliTea initiatives to establish a partnership that increases the scope and impact of our reproducibility initiatives. We currently provide:
- Advice about setting up your own local ReproducibiliTea Club (also check out the general ReproducibiliTea Resources)
- Opportunities for running joint journal clubs with other teams
- Opportunities to create joint dissemination activities about open science. For example, collaborating on a talk or poster at KU Leuven Open Science Day
Upcoming Events
- November 27th (details TBC)
Topic: Led by our journal club team members, this session will focus on a recent preprint by Hosseini and colleagues that explores possible impacts of generative artificial intelligence on open science.
